Inspection Report on City of London School 2005

 

The School was inspected in February 2005 by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

Their report’s opening summary states that ‘City of London School provides a very good, balanced education which enables boys from a very diverse range of backgrounds to achieve good academic standards and to become articulate, confident and tolerant young men’.

The School was particularly praised for the following:

Ethos

The report highlighted the ‘degree of tolerance’, and the ‘mutual trust and respect within the school community’ as ‘outstanding’ and described the ‘outreach programme’ as ‘excellent’.

Pastoral Support

The report described the ‘pastoral support and guidance’ as being of ‘high quality’ and contributing ‘significantly to the well-being of each pupil’.

Academic

The report asserted that ‘gifted teachers enable many of the older pupils to develop intellectual rigour, curiosity and a passion for learning’.

Extra-Curricular

The report described the ‘range and quality of extra-curricular activities’ as ‘excellent’.

 

The City of London School was described as having
no major weaknesses’.
