Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship

PSHE and Citizenship is designed to help boys develop skills and attitudes that will promote their personal development and enable them to cope better with the situations they might face now and in the future. The programme covers topics such as rules and responsibilities, values and discipline, homelessness and poverty, personal relationships, bullying, study skills, finance, issues concerned with health education (STDs, AIDS, drug abuse, alcohol, smoking) and citizenship work designed to make them more aware of their community and society.

Old Grammar, First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Forms have a timetabled lesson for PSHE and Citizenship whilst in the Sixth Form the bulk of PSHE takes place in tutor periods, under the guidance of the Form Tutor. Specialist outside speakers are invited in termly to discuss relevant topics such as alcohol or drug abuse.
